Why I Decided to Write The Golden Grimoire

I love it when people ask me what motivated this book.

I promise this newsletter won’t be all Golden Grimoire info all the time! But when a new book is coming out, I do tend to get quite a few questions about what motivated me to write it so I thought I’d share my reasons here.

When I was growing up, my parents only ever seemed to get seriously upset about two things: the health and wellbeing of us kids, and money. Money was a constant topic of concern because we didn’t have a lot of it.

More than anything, my folks wanted to give their kids more than what they’d had growing up. They believed that providing us with a good education was the key to our future successes.

My family is Italian American. When my grandfather first started attending school, he only spoke Italian. He was placed in a Spanishspeaking classroom because the school didn’t provide instruction in his native language. My grandfather only went to school until sixth grade. I don’t know how much education my grandmother had, but she could read and write, unlike her mother, who signed her greeting cards to the family with an X. My mother and her brother were sent to public schools, and both received a decent education.

But my family wanted more for us. They wanted to send us to private schools that would give us the type of education that they hoped would ensure greater opportunities. We were part of the great immigrant dream. Each generation must have a better chance at success than the previous one.

But private schools were an expense my family couldn’t really afford. Especially with two children. That didn’t stop my folks.

Throughout my life, I can remember times when my dad worked three jobs. Other times, he worked two and mowed grass on the weekends. He did every kind of work you can imagine. At times he was a designing draughtsman, and he did a stint as a stockbroker. But he also worked at liquor stores, gas stations and fast-food restaurants. At one point, he taught math at a community college. Another time, he managed a miniature golf course and arcade. (As you can imagine, the summer he spent working here was my favourite. All the free tokens I could use, and my folks threw my birthday party there that year.)

My mother was a stay-at-home mom while we were growing up. While my brother and I were in school, she spent some time working with a friend of hers doing painting and wallpapering jobs. I was the youngest, and the moment I was old enough, she got a job and I got to live out my tweens as a latchkey kid. It gave her the freedom to work at card and gift stores.

My parents worked hard, and my grandparents helped them scrape by. And they did. And my brother and I got the education my folks dreamed of: private grade school and high school. My brother even went to a private university. I opted for a state university. And then we set out to make our ways in the world.

It’s not always easy to get started, and I struggled with money. Luckily for me, my family didn’t just instil in me a powerful work ethic that taught me to value working hard and saving money. I also had the immense blessing of growing up with an Italian American magical tradition, which opened my eyes to the power of magic early in my life.

With the encouragement of my mother and grandmother, I explored various styles of magic throughout my life. And I found my calling: studying all things esoteric and magical. When I started to live on my own, I naturally turned to magic to solve some of the financial difficulties I faced.

So The Golden Grimoire: The Magical Way to Wealth and Abundance contains the tried-and-tested methods I have used over the years throughout my financial journey. These spells are the ones that have worked for me, family and friends time and time again.

It is my sincere hope that The Golden Grimoire will help you achieve all your dreams.

Oh, and if you are in the Nashville, TN area, I’ll be at Cosmic Connection on April 19 giving a free talk about practical money magic and signing copies of my books! I’d love to see you there!
